Yes, i agree that "Technology is more of a boon than a bane to society". Technology can benefits us in business, communication and education.

Firstly, technology help businessman to keep up-to-date, drive business forward and also to sustain and survive competition.

Secondly, technology help in communication as it makes time no longer a constraint and with megapixel images and video, and high fidelity audio systems clarity in communication has become a never-before experience and also whether you want to spread a piece of information, news or to share knowledge, technology has made it faster and easier.

Thirdly, with the advanced in technology, learners can chart courses at their own pace and this ensures higher levels of motivation both in terms of completing the course as well as in performance.

Even though technology has brought about many conviences to our soicety, it has also resulted in many more, far more complicated problems. For example, the Internet may allow people to connect with others from the other side of the world, it also makes the user prone to many other dangers such as cyber-bullying and scams when buying online goods. This comprimises the users saftey as well as the saftey of others.

Other forms of technology such as military weapons and advanced transportation are also examples. Modern military weapons and machinery may win wars, but in the wrong hands, can lead to mass destruction. The transportations in modern days are able to accomedate more passengers, providing efficiency and convience. However, as technology in transportation gets increasingly more complicated, the risk of human error or overseen dangers increase.

I disagree with your stand as although technology did bring harm to us, it brought us many advantages which indeed benifited our lives. If there was no technology, you would not be able to use the computer to write a rebuttal. Do u agree? As what you had said,"The Internet may allow people to connect with others from the other side of the world, but it also makes the user prone to many other dangers such as cyber-bullying and scams when buying online goods. This comprimises the users saftey as well as the safety of others." However, I feel that it is not because of technology that endangers people to be cyber bullied but it is because of the people who misuse it. The misuse of computer by the people wiill then endanger people to be cyber bullied and not because of technology that computer was invented. We can practice good cyber wellness skills online and cyber bullying will be less likely to occur. Furthermore, as you said, "Modern military weapons and machinery may win wars, but in the wrong hands, can lead to mass destruction". Military machines are created just to keep oneself save when war comes. If there is no war, military machines will not be used. Therefore, it is humans which create war and trouble while technology cannot be blamed. Lastly i believe that it is not because of technology that transportation gets more complicated which the risk of human error or overseen dangers increase. It is mostly because of human, and we can be more careful with the equipment and we will not be harm. Thus, i disagree with your stand.

I agree. Technology has helped people in many ways. Technology allows us to communicate with our peers better through social networks and phones. Technology also makes our lives easier. One example is transport. Transport allows us to go from one place to another easily by simply taking the bus or the train. Technology also makes things safer for us. For example, the rubber surfaces on playgrounds reduce the injury when children who were playing falls. Therefore, technology is more helpful to the society.

However, because of technology, we do not make friends and interact as much anymore. We communicate through social networking sites or messaging instead. What happened to human values? As someone had once said, "Don't text my heart."

I agree that technology is more of a boon than a bane to society. What is technology? Technology is the branch of knowledge that deals with creation and use if technical means and their interrelation with life, society and environment. Some examples of what technology produced are handphones, computers, mp4s, television, radio and other electronic devices. Without technology, our lifes now would not be as modernise as now. Without technology, we cannot communicate with people easily. Technology allows us to communicate with other people, our friends, our relatives. Tecnology allows us to communicate with people overseas too. From this examples, we can see that how technology have made our lifes easier.

Technology also allows us to have better medical care. There are cures for illnesses because of technology. In the past, when technology was not that advanced, some illnesses cannot be treated and the person will die. Everybody will die one day, however, if there was technology back then or technology was more advanced, people could have their illnesses cured and they could be able to live longer.

Technology is everywhere around us: medically, economically and physically. It is the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, in this case, in our society. With the ubiquitous phenomena of rapidly advancing technology in the modern world, the average man would wonder — is technology more of a boon or a bane to society? Regarding this burning issue, I cannot help but deep-seatedly agree that technology is more of a boon to society due to its effectiveness of enabling faster processes, easier work and finer results.

Being part and parcel of everyday life, technology enhances our lives by enabling us to live more efficiently, effectively and efficaciously. It allows us to make use of a combination of systems and devices to further improve our lives. Such examples can be found in the invention of the computer and printer, which quickly superseded the electric typewriter in the 1970s and 1980s, and the progression of the mobile phone from big, bulky, buttoned handsets to slim, pocket-sided, touch-screen smartphones. These unique developments from the Industrial Revolution contribute greatly to the world that we live in today, diverging from their spectrum of different functions, in this case, communication. They make our lives much more easier, convenient and less time-consuming than previous technological devices. Products manufactured from technology, such as the television and code-encrypted security devices have also supported ergonomics and forged itself as a requisite tool to society. Nowadays, simple clicks and taps of a single finger are able to carry out tasks that would have been more tedious in the past. Communication is capable even from a hundred miles, just by using a handy mobile phone. Therefore, technology has, in its every contribution, played a much deeper role of benefiting the society and its people.

Technology may have improved the world a lot, but it has also made us humans lazy because of all the conveniences. We no longer work as hard as before because life has been made simple. Factories that are responsible for the making of all these technology has harmed nature's balance with all the pollution and such. Because of that, we have global warming and the future generation of people will have to carry the burden of cleaning up the mess we, the current generation had created. Also, if they were to fail, that would mean the end of mankind.

Technology refers to the branch of knowledge that deals with creation and use of technical means and they are interrelation with life, society and environment. Boon is something to be thankful for while bane refers to something that might bring harm or ruins.I agree that technology is more of a boon than a bane to society. For example, a technological device, handphones, made us to communicate with each other in a easier way, like calling or texting the person we want to reach to. Secondly, it also serves as an entertainment, games and music and etc. Besides, another well-known technology is computer. Computer allows us to make things easier, for example, instead of writing a long passage out, we can simply just use the softwares in the computer, and the final work can be printed or sent to the person in charge, in a neat and tidy format. It also helps in companies, for example to store the information that can be found easily and be editted. Hence, it shows that technology really brings great convenience to the society, made life easier for people, hence I strongly believe that technology is more of a boon than a bane to the society.

Yes I agree that technology is more of a boon than a bane to society.

Technology offers many advantages than disadvantages. It has made our life easy, comfortable, simple and luxurious.

Some examples include mobile phones and the internet. Society's need for being able to call on people and be available everywhere resulted in the research and development of mobile phones. They in turn influenced the way we live our lives. As the populace relies more and more on mobile phones, additional features were requested. This is also true with today's modern media player. Society also influenced changes to previous generation media players. In the first personal music players, cassettes stored music. However, that method seemed fragile and relatively low fidelity when compact disks came along. Later, availability of MP3 and other compact file formats made compact disks seem too large and limited, so manufactures created MP3 players which are small and hold large amount of data.

Therefore, I strongly believe that technology is more of a boon than a bane to society.

I agree that technology is more of a boon than a bane. Technology has many advantages and disadvantages. It all depends on how you use it. Technology has made life easy and comfortable.

The main reason technology is invented is to make a task easier to perform. Everything has its boon and bane. Some people misuse technology, they cyber-bully, break down codes and software and hack into accounts. All these acts cause people to not trust technology at times and feel that it is a bane. Even though, technology has also helped us a lot in our daily life. Technology improves our lives; make it more convenient and quick. Researching for project or even homework is made much easier when you just go to Google. A lot of us now, depend on Google all the time. Even in school, we are using technology- the ace-learning programme, the PowerPoint slides teacher uses, and even this debate. Our modern life can't live without technology, almost everything we do is related to technology.

An example will be the use of social networking sites like facebook, twitter and blogging. These social networking sites allow us to express our emotions, understand more about our friends, or even comforting our friends when they are sad. Making friend through social networking is easier for some as they need not come face to face with a ‘stranger’.

Another example is the tedious work of writing a letter. In the past, when people want to communicate with others, they would have to write a letter, and send it to the person. However, now, technology has helped us in a way such that we only need to send a text message or email the person to inform him/her something.

Therefore, I feel that technology is more of a boon than a bane as it has helped improve our lives, making it more convenient and quick. However, some people tend to misuse it.

I agree that technology is more of a boon than a bane to society . Technology is the making, modification, usage, and knowledge of tools, machines, techniques, crafts, systems, methods of organization, in order to solve a problem, improve a pre-existing solution to a problem, achieve a goal or perform a specific function. It can also refer to the collection of such tools, machinery, modifications, arrangements and procedures. Technologies significantly affect human as well as other animal species' ability to control and adapt to their natural environments.Technology has both negative and positive effects to the society. However , I believe that there are more positive effects than negative effects to the society.

Technology has made our life more convenient and medical technology have helped to save our lives . Medical Technology includes a wide range of healthcare products and is used to diagnose, monitor or treat diseases or medical conditions affecting humans. Medical technology may broadly include medical devices, information technology, biotech, and healthcare services.Have you ever think back and ask yourself how medical technology had saved you so far ? Medical Technology is really important as physicians rely on laboratory data to diagnose and treat many conditions.

One of the example is that Nancy Olson, a 63-year-old artist visiting Bellingham from Priest Lake, Idaho owes her life to new medical technology and the collaboration of the local medical community.Efforts to revive her included defibrillation and administration of cardiac medications, but despite these measures her heart would not restart. During the resuscitation effort, a new mechanical CPR device being evaluated by Whatcom Medic One was attached to Olson. This piece of equipment, called the LUCAS Chest Compression System, is designed to precisely and effectively compress and expand the chest in an attempt to circulate blood when the heart is unable to do so.In Olson's case, the device was so effective she began to regain consciousness when the device was operating, a very rare occurrence in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest situations.

This shows that technology had played a big role in the society and thus it has more boon than bane to the society .

You only mentioned the right side of the "technology" coin: what about all what you ignored? I do not think this theme to be too complicated to be discussed on a web-site, but surely if you had to mantain an idea about technology you should have, at least, taken into account all the aspects; only secondly, you would analyse the one you prefer, in order to be the more objective possible. This is a criticism i could elaborate to anyone on this debate, and more generally, on this site. It lacks in reasoning, in fact most people answer questions without having fully understood the answer, emphasysing the favourite aspect of technology, ingoring the others. What about the technology used by armies, and nations? And, not to be so drastic, do you really think internet and whatever medical technology are totally "good"? It all improves humanity? Why? Simply because it helps us to live longer? Baudelaire, unfortunately famous exclusively for his poems, once said why should we all live longer? Why telephones, telegraphs? This question has even more sense if you wonder about the conditions in which we all live today: we ignore ourselves, often we kill, we exploit eachother. But we are all proud to have discovered the cure to a specific disease: oh that's right the point. We all needed it.

I think that it certainly does not have more positive than negative effects on society. The point on medical technology I admit is deemed appropriate and beneficial for our country but then , do you not agree that technology may not be beneficial nor helpful to huamans especially teens and young people? Technology in this form is not deemed boon to the society as technology here refers to the creating, upgrading and using of social networking sites where while it may help us keep in contact with our friends and keep in touch with long-distance, it is not good as they often lead us into an isolated life where we are would be forever facing the computer screen thinking we are in touch with our friends and family by keeping tabs on them where they post random things on their wall or profile but then actually we are in fact distancing ourselves away from our friends and family? Keeping tabs on people does not equate to knowing them and the recent happenings in our life. By facing the computer screen "stalking" friends and familys' profiles we tend to choose not to meet them outside as since we think we know what friends and family people are doing, what would we have to talk about during a conversation when we are with them outside? Social networking sites also can lead to depression and sucidal thoughts when some friends do childish and irrational things like cyber-bully others and tease them untll things get serious and the victim lets hurt and insecurity get to them.

Therefore we can see that this form of technology does not benefit the society this way.

However, if we view it in the point that Technology is more of a boon than a bane to society because of how medical technology is invented and has helped to save life, it is sure to be more of a boon than a bane. People invented technology to help perform medical surgeries easier and create specific medicine to cure for different diseases, hence it can save lives faster and easier, and more lifes are safe.

I would like to rebut your point on 'By facing the computer screen stalking friends and familys profiles, we tend to choose not to meet them outside'. As people are more busy with their lifes, working and studying, social networking sites, a creation of internet, help us to improve our relationship with our friends easier and directly by checking on what they are doing or having problems in the specific moment and we are able to reach them out easier and in a faster way. It also aids as a plateform for people to create events and invites outings.

Significantly, topics between people are easier as we get to know what we are in common by looking at their profile and get to know them better, building the relationship.

Point: I agree that technology is more of a boon than a bane to society. There are many kinds of technology and they have benefited people lives in many ways. They also bring convenient to people, allowing them to travel to other places. One of the technology that affected us alot is medical technology.

Elaborate: Medical technology brought changes to our lives as the better the medical health care is, the death rates decreases. Compared to lives before and to less developed countries, we had better medical care and our death rate is lower than theirs.

Evidence: An example to support my point is that people that suffer from diabetes, now have access to very accurate blood glucose monitoring technologies, allowing them to control their condition effectively. Therefore, reducing the risk of suffering the common but debilitating complications of diabetes, such as blindness and peripheral nerve damage.

Technology is more of a boon than a bane as it is because of technology that the world is getting more modernised and everything is getting more convenient.

It makes everything convenient, an example is cooking, now that technology is improved we can use a gas stove or even an electric stove to cook! There is no need to cook spend long hours just to cook a dish now.Mobile phones are now seen in pocket size and has many functions nowadays as this is the result of the improvement of technology too.The invention of mobile phones also makes communiation so easy saving us the trouble of travelling to a far place just to chat with a person! If technology did not improve, we would still be using the big and heavy old mobile phones.

I disagree. The abuse of technology leads to major health problems such as mayopia. this is caused by excessive use of computers and handphones etc. It also decreases the time with friends and family and result in breaking of stong ties and relationships. The person would also be inactive in outdoor sports and entertainments. The person would not concentrate in his/her studies and his/her studies would be affected. This can also cause depression and reduce the the number of hours of sleep. The person might also be violent due to addiction on violent games. These are caused by addiction.

Zhenyuan I disagree with you.A person would only develop myopia ,as you said, if they use their phones and computers excessive , if a person knows how to control their excessive needs, we would be able to decrease our chances of wearing spectacles and we may even not wear spectacles!A person would only spend less time with family if they are addicted but if they manage their time properly, they can still choose to spend time with their family.

A person is only inactive in sports because he/she is addiced to gaming but the person can also choose to exercise if he/she wants too. All these are just whether you want to choose to do it or not.The not concentrating on studies point is also due to the person being too addicted , it is not technologies' fault but it is our fault as we allow ourselves to be addicted!

A person is violent only when he/she wants to imitate the fighting styles of the characters in the violent game.Technology has also brought us a lot of benefits like increasing food production too.

Therefore, i agree that technology is more boon than bane to society.

Technology is most definitely more of a boon than a bane! The definition of bane in this case is something to be thankful for; blessing; benefit and the definition of bane is a person or thing that ruins or spoils. Technology has become a staple of everyday human life. Humans have started resorting to computers and cell phones for basic communication, birthday reminders and even spell-check. Technology has many benefits. It plays a major role in various aspects of our busy lives such as education, our society, communication and the medical field. Technological advancements in the field of education are fast evolving. Today, e-learning is a familiar and popular term to many of the students in Singapore. In epidemics such as H1N1 and SARS when its too dangerous for students to report to school for lessons, technology is needed to keep lessons on-going through e-learning. This is only one of the benefits of technology! From the lights that brighten our life to the television that entertains are all made possible because of technology. Thus, in my opinion, technology is more of a boon than a bane.

The discovery of electricity gave the world light during night. If not for technology, it would be darkness everywhere at night. Today, electricity can be generated through various means because of technology. It has been channeled to every small household in the world. Yes, I do agree that technology is more of a boon than a bane to society.Technology has evolved over the years and revolutionized our lives. There are many types of technology like information technology, biotechnology and medical technology. One of the most influential technologies is medical technology.

Medical technology is the application of science and technology to improve the management of health conditions. It has contributed greatly to the society as it can save lives and increase chances for patients to survive their ordeal. Technology in the medical field has allowed individuals with chronic illness to have productive and healthier lives. These individuals can now lead independent lives without any need for physical, emotional and financial support. Advanced medical aids also enables patients to continue recovery at home reducing their hospital stay and at the same time saving money on hospital bills.

An example of medical technology that has benefited lives is the treatment for of cardiovascular disease, the use of coronary stents - artificial tubes used in cases of coronary heart disease to keep the arteries open – have halved the number of those dying from heart attacks or suffering from heart failure. Patients with an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) – a small device implanted for those at risk of sudden cardiac death – now have a 98% chance of surviving a cardiac arrest, compared to only 5% without the implantable device. In addition, the minimally-invasive surgical techniques which are now used to treat aneurysms can mean a recovery time of around four weeks, compared to over a year for older procedures.

Hence, all in all, medical technology plays a vital role in allowing people to remain valuable and contributing members of the society. Thus i shall end off by reiterating my stand that technology is more of a boon than a bane to society.

Yes, i agree. Technology has helped improve lives and made it more convient. All the latest technology has been been improved and made into better uses. For example, before phones were invented, people could only 'talk' to others through pigeons and they could only get their reply after a long wait. However, ever since telephones were invented, people could communicate with each other more easily. It was all thanks to Alexander Graham Bell, who invented the first telephone that changed the world's mode of communication. The other inventers took his idea and started to improve on it. From home telephones to hand-held portable mobile phones, calling functions to messaging, picture-taking and other functions. It had changed the lives of people. However, people tend to misuse these inventions, like blackmailing, typing rude comments and even cyber bulling. In the past, bulling cases happens, but now since there is technology the bulling cases worsen. Many reports such as the megan meier sucide cases are results of cyber bullying. Cyber bullies can easily take on a fake profiles and 'harm' the victims. They might also threaten them even when not face-to-face through technologies such as phones or internets. I feel that it is not the invention of internet that causes all that, but the misusing of the users. If not for technology, we would not have computers, phones, cars and many more to help us in our daily lives. If there is no technology, we would still ve like the cavemens, living in caves, burning fires, not being able to communicate with each other. Thus, i strongly agree that technology is more of a boon than a bane to technology.

Technology helps us to reuse our resources such that our resources are enough for all mankind.

Technology enables food to be preserved by adapting to the environment conditions so that food spoilage will be prevented, hence increasing lifespan of food.

One example is Pickling. This technique involves dipping the food in some liquid chemical that prevents the growth of micro-organisms but still maintains edibility of the food. The preserving liquids used are vinegar, brine, alcohol and some other oils. This process is known as chemical pickling. The other way of pickling is by fermentation. In fermentation pickling, the preservation agent is produced by the food itself during the process of fermentation.

Hence, I agree that technology is more of a boon than a bane to society as the use of technology creates innovate way of preserving food such as pickling hence increasing food lifespan, and prevent limited food resources.

Whereas the harms it has are generally social discriminations, bullying, harrassing, and committing suicide.

Evidence: Technology has allowed many diseases known to be uncurable to be curable now. Media technology has made advertising and important announcements go around faster and more efficient. Engineering technology then of course has made and created incredible things to help us in our daily life or in the long run, much better than last time when we had to work so much and all we get was far lesser than what we expected and needed.Unlike the banes of technology, the boons of it help us much more to cover up for the lost of manpower and contribution.

Technolgy has many advantages and disadvantages. It made life simpler, like comfort and luxury. It helped to unite people all around the world with the use of the internet. Technology doesn’t make man. Man makes technology! Therefore, it depends on how we use it. If we use it constructively, there will be no destruction. An example is the nuclear weapons.

As atomic weapon, it can be used to cause terrible destruction. As uses for eletricity, there is much good.

For every weapon of death and destruction we've invented, we've come up with a thousand ways to boost food production, increase access to personal fulfillment, save lives, and simply to amuse ourselves. On the whole, technology has been a boon for almost as long as we've existed.

Life without a mobile phone is unimaginable. You will not see a single person without a mobile phone when you walk down the street. The latest mobile phones not only allow you to take pictures but you can also play games, listen to music, access the internet, and organize a day planner and much more. No longer have you to think about the high prices before buying a latest mobile phone. The online mobile shops help you find the latest phones in cheap mobile phone deals.

Example of technology includes social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. People can also advertise for their business on such sites as many people uses them and it will attract attention. People also can connect with their friends locally or globally on such social networking sites as they are easily accessible via smartphones or computers that are widely used. By using this site users can add friends that they know and they can also share about things that are happening or updating their statuses.

Many people tend to blame the technology, which has made people to look like annoying. Aren’t you feeling like this? Technology has its pros and cons, where we are choosers to make our choice to make technology a boon.

Technology has introduced some gadgets; everything has the potential of being user friendly and helpful. If we make those gadgets into much troublesome issues, we might lose our pleasant way of life to those gadgets. Don’t make technology to rules you, if you let you to control the technology it might become bane for you. But, if you control the technology to work for you, by having alternative efficient ways, you would have technology as boon.

Technology can be a powerful tool for teachers to use, if they know how to use it. Kay Stables (1999), commented that when computer technology first came out, many teachers were confused. They weren't sure if technology meant computers, applied science, or craft work. She says that very few teachers are trained in technology education and recommends four key areas to address to help teachers move forward.

1) Developing an understanding of what technology education is.

2) Helping teachers see how the work they currently do and the experience they have can be adapted to allow technology activities to grow and be added on.

3) Providing teachers with hands-on experience with technology activities and giving teachers a broad range of manageable teaching activities to start from.

4) Providing opportunities for teachers to share their practices and good ideas with each other to build a repertoire of successful activities.

In conclusion i think that technology helps us alot and without it life would br too hard.

I agree with the statement.

Point:Technology is sure a great invention for Human beings,it so convenience and also

make our life simpler. Technology in nowadays life is the most common item . Handphones, the most common seen, almost everyone in the human race has one. Technology was created is just to make our life simpler, improve our ways of life,or else,we would still be using wooden carts to transport things around. Even the world's safest transport , Aeroplane , is also a technology. Military weapons are also another example , such as mini robots spying for ambush, protecting us,pure and innocent citizen, making Singapore a safe place. Hence,I believe that Technology is more of a boon than a bane to society.

No, I do not agree. Sure, technology nowadays has improved the world in many ways, is constantly changing the world and has definitely become influential in our lives. It has improved the world by leaps and bounds, and has helped people in various ways. Diseases that were once a threat to the human community are now curable and can be treated,we live longer and more healthier lives thanks to technology. It brings us the convenience of traveling form one place to the other faster than before. Now, we have aircraft that can make journey shorter. However, people are now too dependent on technology. We now make friends and interact with each other through social networking sites or through messaging instead of communicating in real life. Young children in the past used to go outside and play all the time, but now, the new generation of children stay glued to their computer screens, iPhones and game consoles. Like how the movie 'WALL-E' depicted, technology has made us forget human values. It portrays how the people in the future might behave if we had such sophisticated technology. We'll become fat and ride around in chairs instead of walking. People should not be so dependent on technology. If technology were to fail one day, the world would be thrown into chaos. No bank, no radio, no computer, no telephone, no transport and dangerous weapons like atomic bombs and missiles would be compromised. To conclude, I do not agree that technology is more of a boon than a bane to society.

I do not agree with your stand. Firstly, you mentioned that technology made us forget human values and people should not be so dependant on technology. Technology have unknowingly become a part of our life and it is bringing convenience into our life and enable us to live in a comfortable world. Through technology, or perhaps the creation of internet, we are able to make friends with other people in the world who might have the common interest, problems and it will enable people that are shy, reserved to open up themselves and share their problems with other people. We are able to encouraged other people more directly and easily just by commenting, "You can do it" or share with them your real life experiences via the social networking sites. Hence, I do not agree that technology will make us forget our human values because an example of technology, internet, is a good plateform for us to help out each other just by typing. Though I agree that it might lessen our chances of able to physically communicate with friends and create 'real bonding', but via the internet, bonding and trust can also be build. It might take a risk if you are making friends with people you do not know but if you experience self protection and reveal things that will not harm you, its actually a good way for you to make more friends and even a better plateform for you to talk to people you are shy with when you meet them in person, examples are pop stars.

People will not be dependant on technology as there are many real life experiences or problems that technology are unable to help us carry out these tasks and problems have to be solved ourselves, technology is just a tool that can help us to carry out these task, but to be able to complete them, we have to do it ourselves. An example might be overcoming your fear of heights, leadership, creating a family.... etc. Hence the world will not be thrown into chaos if technology were to fail one day as we can learn from our forefathers, how they lead their life in the 1970s.

Hence, I do not agree that technology is more of a bane than boon when we practice to be vigilant in life.

IF we use technology safely, there willl be no bane. Technology does not deter values, instead we can practice safety, integrity and honesty when using the net.

AND for every weapon of death and destruction we've invented, we've come up with a thousand ways to boost food production, increase access to personal fulfillment, save lives, and simply to amuse ourselves. On the whole, technology has been a boon for almost as long as we've existed.

However, because of the creation of technology, humans have changed. They compete with each other in the makings of technology and for the sake of victory, they use underhanded means to accomplish their goals. Technology has clouded their mind. They make technology not for us people but for the sake of money. Also, humans never use technology constructively. For example, social networking sites. If we use them constructively, it means we know how to limit ourselves when using them. But do we? Once we go on Facebook or Tweeter, we stay there for couple of hours without doing anything constructive. We simply stare at the computer screen doing absolutely nothing. Sure, we do chat with our friends, but why not do it face to face? Because of social networking sites, we no longer interact with our friends as much in real life. We talk to each other through the computer screen.

For technology to be boon, it has to be used safely and constructively, that I agree. But no, we humans do just the opposite. We use it for cyber bullying, for scamming people online and such. There is no safety at all.

I do not agree that food production and personal amusement has got anything to do with weapons. Do you mind clarifying this?

If people uses technology correctly, there won't be any problem.it is the people that depends too much on technology and not technology that makes people depend on them because no one know what people thinks. Moreover, you had listed many more benefits technology has bring us than the harm it brought us. I dont see anything wrong in making friends through social networking or mesasging. Adults who are working may not have so much time to go out and meet new people and communicate with them unlike the younger generation. Diseases that were once a threat to the human community are now curable and can be treated, we live longer and more healthier lives thanks to technology." If you have stated that technology has improved the word by leaps and bounds, then why is technology more bane than boon?

Technology brings us convenience. We can now travel everywhere because there are cars, buses, aeroplanes and other modes of transports. Instead of walking such a far distance and wasting so much time, we can now save more time by taking public transports. When more time is being saved, we have more time to other things which are important. Technology also allows us to communicate with people everywhere, anytime.

It is already clear that we humans have come to live comfortably with technology and we can rely on it for anything annd everything.

Another thing is, because of the fierce competition in the economy, every company is trying to constantly improving on their products to make it more superior than the olde ones. Which is why, technology is NOT more of a boon than a bane to society.

No, I do not agree that technology is more of a boon than a bane to society. Nowadays, people make use of technology to do many different things. With the advances in technology, many people would rather stay at home and communicate behind the computer screeen or a phone. This minimizes interaction time with your peers. The advances in technology destroys relationships indirectly.

With the advances in technology, there will be more cases of cyberbullying. People will make use of social media and do things behind the computer screen. Whats worst is that nobody knows the real identity of the person and this would make the culprit do more bad.

Hence, technology is more of a bane to society.

Hence, technology should be blame for minimizing interaction time with your peers but the peers should be blamed for not making time to plan interaction time within them properly.

I disagree. Technology might be useful as it improves our lives, but life might actually be better without it. Some of the problems technology causes are dependence, isolation, cyber bulling and job loss. People nowadays are too dependent on technology to do the job. For example, people need machines to do the work, need computers for work or need cars for travel. When it one day breaks, we will be in a state of confusion and frustration because we have become too attached to it. technology will also cause isolation because people connect through chat rooms, texts, forums and websites, but less so face to face. They spend more time sitting alone in front of a computer than out in the community. This will make them lose confidence when speaking to other. Cyber bullying is a serious case which many victims are affected by. There were cases where victims commit suicide because of the things that cyber bullies said. Job loss are also due to technology. Companies use technology to help do work as technology advancements lessen the human workforce. All these of the above are caused by technology, however, technology is made to make life more convient. Technology has advantages to mankind but also disadvantages. As it creates problems for us. Thus technology is more of a bane than a boon to technology to the society.

Hence, man invented technology so that we can enjoy comfort, and lessen the tasks man needed to do.

I think that technology is more bane than boon as they are a kind of danger to us. An example of technology is nuclear technology which involves reactions of atomic nuclei and it is destructive. They can penetrate deep inside the human body where they can damage biological cells and thereby initiate a cancer. If they strike sex cells, they can cause genetic diseases in progeny. Nuclear technology involve the building of nuclear plants where accidents happen and people die or suffer from diseases. An example would be was the Chernobyl disaster which occurred in 1986 in Ukraine. That accident killed 56 people directly, as well as damaging approximately $7 billion of property. A study published in 2005 estimates that there will eventually be up to 4,000 additional cancer deaths related to the accident among those exposed to significant radiation levels. Radioactive fallout from the accident was concentrated in areas of Belarus, Ukraine and Russia. Approximately 350,000 people were forcibly resettled away from these areas soon after the accident. Therefore we can see that nuclear power plants are dangerous and they are built and used by technology thus technology is more bane than boon to the society.

I disagree with you. utilizing nuclear energy is clean without emission of harmful gases. Therefore, energy obtained from nuclear reactions is much more superior to fossil fuels that have been dominated in the world. Furthermore, another remarked advantage of nuclear energy is its capacity of creating a massive amount of energy from only a very little bit of chemical substances. This feature becomes valuable when natural resources is getting exhausted. This nuclear technology can be served as a defensive weapon in times of war as the nuclear weapons are weapons of destruction. Mankind accidents can be prevented. Leaks from nuclear plants that will bring harm to the residents living near are all Man's fault. All this can be prevented from happening if we humans take preventive measures to stop this from happening. Measures like forbidding residents from living near the nuclear plant area can also be taken. These will prevent harm to the people if they are not allowed to live near there. With regards to the incident in Scotland, if those unhappy citizens feel that they are being treated unfairly due to the exposure to radioactive material, they should have brought it up peacefully and maybe the government would have implemented a policy or plan to have those residents living near to move to another place using some monetary compensation. All over the world, nuclear technology is being used by number of countries. Nuclear technology have alot of advantages such as little amount of carbon emissions and thus contribution to global warming is reduced. This benefit also allow humans to be able to generate a high amount of electrical energy from a single plant. Hence, I would like to rebut against that nuclear technology have advantages that overpower the disadvantages like damages to environmental and human health as they can be prevented by measures taken by humans. Thus, i disagree that technology is more of a bane than a boon to society.

Nuclear power is any nuclear technology designed to extract usable energy from atomic nuclei via controlled nuclear reactions. The most common method today is through nuclear fission, though other methods include nuclear fusion and radioactive decay.Nuclear technology is beneficial to us as fuel is inexpensive ,energy generation is the most concentrated source ,waste is more compact than any source ,extensive scientific basis for the cycle ,easy to transport as new fuel and no greenhouse or acid rain effects. Also , nuclear power plants are designed to prevent abnormal incidents from occurring. Even if abnormal incidents do occur, nuclear plants are also designed to prevent the potential spreading of abnormal incidents and leakage of radioactive materials around plants, which may cause adverse impacts on the surrounding environment. Thus , nuclear technology may not be such a bad thing after all as there are preventions taken still .

It can create scams and spams among the people. The youth has also been very much addicted to gadgets that they get to spend too much time with it. This will cause the students to do badly in their studies.

Technology also consumes a lot of energy to run. We will then need more fuel, and it will then leave a lot of waste and pollution to our environment. It is the most destructive price for our today’s technology too.

Also, if all our jobs are replaced by machines which generated through tecnology, people will then be useless. Too much tecnology will also cause harm towards the people.

The consequences of bullying are short and long term and cover a wide range of severity. At the beginning of bullying, the self esteem of the victim is hit very hard. The victim feels guilty and confused at the same time, trying to figure out why this is happening to them. As it continues, social skills begin to fade away even more and depression starts to set in. If no help is found or if the bullying isn’t even noticed, more severe consequences start to surface. Not so much in middle school, but in the beginning of high school, victims may drop out of school all together. In the most severe cases, suicide is considered and eventually carried out. In the long run, many bullying victims fail to thrive in adulthood: they distrust relationships, are fearful, experience isolation and have difficulties standing up for themselves.

It is the fault of us humans that such things occur and technology is here to worsen the problem. How is this a boon to society?

Because their motives differ, the solutions and responses to each type of cyberbullying incident has to differ too. Unfortunately, there is no "one size fits all" when cyberbullying is concerned. Only two of the types of cyberbullies have something in common with the traditional schoolyard bully. Experts who understand schoolyard bullying often misunderstand cyberbullying, thinking it is just another method of bullying. But the motives and the nature of cybercommunications, as well as the demographic and profile of a cyberbully differ from their offline counterpart.

Therefore, if we all practice safety in the internet, we wont get scammed or whatsoever.

Cyber bullying does not often occurs, and even if it occurs, all we need to do is to report the case and then the authorities will send warning letters either via email or mail, so the cases of cyber bullying will become lesser. As for the scams, as users, we just need to look for a more reliable websites, like blogshop, to purchase the items. As long as we are careful enough, scams will not happen. I agree that if weapons fall on the wrong person, crimes may happen, robbery, but I think that, for people who wants to own a weapon should have a legal licence and state what is the uses of the weapon. If the reasons in invalid or the licence is not being approved, one will not own the weapon, and crimes could be prevented. Lastly, as for the transportation, I stronly disagree that it is more of a bane than a boon. This is because transportation is very important and convinience in Singapore. We need them to travel to the destination, without them, we will not be able to reach the destination. Although, recently there were cases where MRT trains break down, but as long as there are constant checks and repairs, this should not be a problem. Hence, I strongly disagree with this arguement.
